Helicon
Helicon, Northwestern’s longest running arts and literature magazine, began in Chapin and maintains a running relationship with the residential college through workshops, firesides and performances. Helicon welcomes submissions of visual art, writing and music from all Northwestern undergraduates, regardless of school or major. For more information visit their website. The Kaleidoscopic Flux Chapin gets its news in a few ways, but the most read one is by far The Flux. The Flux is posted every week on the inside of all the stalls in the Chapin bathrooms and contains information on the college's events like upcoming IM games and firesides, and also features a weekly "Mystery Chapino." Fellows Lunch On Tuesdays and Fridays, several fellows will come to Allison dining hall to dine with Chapin residents for lunch. Lunch is an opportunity for informal conversation on any subject, and they are very excited to chat with you! Faculty Staff Table From time to time, fellows will offer to host a dinner at Chapin, in their homes, or out in Evanston for a few residents at a time. They're rare but delicious occasions that offer appreciated reprieve from eating in the dining halls. Get to Know a Neighborhood Northwestern students often forget that Chicago is only a few stops away via the Purple Line. To get out of the Northwestern bubble, the Executive Board - and specifically the External Social Chair - will plan a few outings each quarter to different Chicago neighborhoods to eat, roam, and learn. Choffeehouse Everyone in Chapin has the opportunity to express their talents during Coffee House. Typicall held during reading week of each quarter, people read poetry, sing original or covers of songs, do stand-up, and more. The possibilities are limitless. |
