Committees
This is your community.
We have a seat for you at the table.
Chapinos support one another in limitless ways, whether it be in attending IM sports games, attending or even hosting cool Firesides inside Chapin, exploring places in Chicago together, and beyond. Chapin Exec, more commonly known as Chexec, works hard to organize fun events for the community. Tea, Munchies, Firesides, and Evanston excursions are all great occasions that only members of Chapin can attend.
Committees provide residents with the opportunity to work alongside Chexec and the ability to organize or facilitate events. This means if you want pancakes for weekly munchies, pitch it to your committee! If there is a new exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago, collaborate to plan the event and take a group downtown, all with the potential of receiving funding from Chapin.
Committees provide a deeper level of involvement and inclusion in the community, allowing members to actively participate and offer suggestions for what they want to see in Chapin. Each of our committees is built around an important pillar of the Chapin community.
Check out all of our committees below! And, to see the leaders of these committees for the 2018-2019 academic year, hop on over to the executive board page.

Internal SocialWorking with our Internal Social Chair, committee members will plan and set up weekly events like Thirs-tea Thursday and Munchies. This involves being your regular old awesome selves at the event, telling the internal social chair any snack or tea recommendations, suggesting food for weekly munchies, and helping with the set-up and take-down of the event. This social committee is perfect for anyone who loves food (any foodies?) and wants to have an impact on bigger social events, like planning the annual formal.

External SocialExternal social events occur either on-campus, in Evanston, or in Chicago. This committee is for anyone who wants to plan and lead excursions! Some of our past events include attending Cubs games, exploring neighborhoods, and seeing plays in the city. As a committee member, you will have the opportunity to pitch ideas for what our trips of the quarter will be, attend these events while also potentially leading them, and have influence on the external side of Chapin's social calendar.

PhilanthropyWe are a group of people committed to lead Chapin on a path of meaningful philanthropy. We will plan and execute varies excursions and service events, sometimes in collaboration with other residential colleges. We will also be in charge of Chapin teams for large University events such as Dance Marathon in winter quarter, and Relay for Life in spring quarter. You will be delegated with various planning, recruitment and marketing tasks throughout the year, and together we will make Chapin great again.

WellnessThe Wellness committee serves two purposes: 1) to inform Chapinos of the IM Sports opportunities available to them, and 2) to encourage them to take advantage of each sport (be it through playing, spectating, listserv email-blasting). IM Sports are a low-stakes, fun atmosphere to play in. Looking for cardio? They're definitely better than the treadmill. Join this committee if you want to play, spectate, lead, or organize!

AcademicsOur mission: to promote faculty-student interaction and create a community that fosters the exchange of knowledge. How do we accomplish this, you might ask? We help firesides to run smoothly by supplying free food, helping to set up before and clean up after firesides, and inviting Fellows and students to give firesides on topics of their choice. If you want a chance to really get to know the Fellows and learn about their areas of research and their hobbies and interests, then this is the committee for you!

CommunicationsThe Communications Committee works directly with the Communication Chair to contribute to the Flux (the weekly satirical publication), to add words to the Chictionary (Chapin's dictionary of hall-specific lingo), and to help out with any other communication-related projects that may arise, such as the Chearbook (Chapin yearbook). Joining Comms would be ideal for any resident who is creative, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and has a great sense of humor!
